Have you noticed our finely polished "tech tips" get less Likes than the other posts? :( So I thought I'd just remind you that us tech support staff are real people too. I went to our nation's capital over the weekend as a bit of a family outing. I didn't go to look at parliament buildings. Boring, in fact I didn't even see them in the distance. I went to the Weta Cave, where Weta Workshop is based and where they made the props for Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, Hobbit etc. I have to be honest, I nearly had a nerdgasm. Not only because of the artistic ability of the teams who do this work To View More >>

The Chicago Sun-Times made the news by laying off its entire photography staff last week, leaving 28 people without a job. While we all need to move with the times, the real heart-breaking twist for the photojournalists is that they are to be replaced by reporters who will be taught how to take pictures and videos using iPhones. The story made news around the world, in part perhaps because one of the photographers who lost their jobs was veteran photojournalist - and Pulitzer winner - John H. White, who is featured in this audio: Over the years John White has photographed, among others, Nelson To View More >>
There's a cool vibe to our webinars, for us anyway. It's generally early morning here, so we're just kick-starting the coffee machine (the Aussies have it even worse - sorry guys), while on the other side of the world the Brits are feet up with a beer, or sipping cocoa in their jammies. In North America it's the middle of the day, so maybe sitting down with us is a chance to take it easy too. How much do you need to charge? Click here to watch it full screen on our vimeo channel. We were a little nervous about this one because it's new content, we only had an hour to talk about a subject we could To View More >>

Yesterday's visits took us into the heart of first Ideo, then Google and Survey Monkey. All of them amazingly impressive with much to teach us about how you get to be the best in the world and create environments that foster creativity. We spend a lot of time at work, and with the people there. The better we can make work, the better our lives, but it's got harder since the financial meltdown. But Google sort of borrowed my breath, so to speak. The sheer magnitude: 16,000 people on the campus we visited. Hardly any looking older than 16, though they assured us the age range is extensive. We're constantly reinventing Queensberry to make things better, simpler, faster and more creative. In the mid-1990s we threw away the rule book and started making our albums to order. Computer-driven mat-cutters meant our clients could design books to suit their photography, rather than making their photographs fit the books. It had never been done before. In 2000 we cut out the middle-man and began developing the world’s only worldwide door-to-door service to professional photographers. In 2001 we released Photojunction. In 2003 we were pioneers in the album printing business. (We’re still To View More >>
